The sound of laughter and the sight of smiling faces is the most common sight at Game Club. People come together to compete in their favorite games and to meet new smiling faces.
Every other Friday, Game Club meet in the library simply to play games. They are trying to fix their schedule so that they can meet of single Friday after school. These fantastic get-togethers last until 5:30. With the growing number of students interested in attending these game sessions, Game Club wants to begin to bring food while they play their games.
At a Game Club meeting on Friday, there was approximately a little more than a classroom full of students enjoying themselves by competing with their friends in a friendly board game.
Mrs. Glass, one of the teacher sponsors, said, “I think Game Club is a great way for kids to get together and play games in a safe environment. Some kids are not involved in extracurricular activities and this club provides a great opportunity to be involved with other students.”
Game Club offers a wide variety of games for everyone to enjoy. Game titles include Battleship, Trivial Pursuit, Magic, Sequence, Scrabble, and Life. Card games, like Spoons, are also available to play. There are even some days when a Nintendo Wii is available.
“It’s a fun and relaxing activity for after school,” said Sophomore Jeffery Birch.
Game Club is meant to give students an opportunity to relax with friends after a long week of school. This club wants be to come together and enjoy the company of friends. This club can create a better school community and get students involved.
“Game Club was created to bring students closer together by having fun with some friendly competition in games. It is very relaxing for everyone and if more people join, the better it will get,” said Junior Alex Boschert.
