A Phineas and Ferb Summer

The Sedgwick County Park is a great place for a summer adventure!

As the best Disney TV show of all time puts it, “There’s a hundred and four days of summer vacation, until school comes along to end it, so the annual problem for our generation is finding a good way to spend it.” Although our summer (unfortunately) is not quite as long as Phineas and Ferb’s, I definitely identify with their struggle of finding ways to fill my time. Not because I’m short on ideas, but because I frequently lack the ability to wake up before the afternoon.

So many students, myself included, dream 2nd semester away with no actual plans for the summer in mind. When asked what they’re most excited for this summer, too many teens cop out with “sleep” or “hang out with friends”. Then, when that final bell rings, time begins wasting.

I propose that this be the summer of doing! DO go to the park! DO meet up with your friends! DO throw a party! Too often do teens sleep the summer away their summer, leaving them feeling shorted when school comes back around again.  I believe that if you make yourself a calendar, bucket list, or plan, you can not only enjoy lazy days of sleeping in or staying up late, but also do those things that require waking up before 1:00.

I will be the first one to tell you that the best part of summer is being able to relax and sleep as late as you want sometimes, but I will also let you know that there are so many adventures you’re missing out on by making that a habit!
