Gameday Preview: Tough Road Test at Heights

Braden Howell will take the field one last time today.

As the weather gets cooler, the football games are also getting more important. This week is the Heights Falcons, who are flying high after last week’s comeback victory at Kapaun. Heights has one of the most electrifying offenses in the state thanks to its dual threat quarterback K’Vonte Baker. Their offense does not only feature Baker but also has an effective option attack with Dejuan Scott and Braxton Krikendoll that has given defenses fits all season. Heights is also known for putting up a lot of points each game, averaging roughly 43 points per game. Unlike some previous opponents, Carroll will have to be on guard on both sides of the ball, as Heights has one of the more formidable defensive fronts in the state. Look for the likes of Dalen Williams and Ja”Veon Johnson to try and shut down the potent run game combo of Braden Howell and Desmond Smith.

What’s Next

For Heights, it finishes up the season at South and then likely will play in the postseason

For Carroll, it comes back home to play a big match against the somewhat surprising Kapaun Crusaders and if it wins out, hopefully a very high seeding for the postseason

Prediction

Expect a hard fought battle by both sides much like the effort seen two weeks ago in Derby. If Carroll’s defense can solidify its run defense much like they did in the second half of the Derby game and the entirety of the West game, then expect Carroll to come out on top. In what should be an incredibly high scoring game, the score will be: BC 70, Heights 65
