Personal column: Crunchy or creamy? Easy choice.

Kate Martin

For all of you creamy peanut butter connoisseurs out there, you might want to skim past this article because I’m about to tell you why “extra crunchy” is the way to eat your peanut butter.
Now, imagine this… you’re hungry (that’s not that hard to imagine, I’m sure). You walk into the kitchen and open a cupboard to find a jar of crunchy peanut butter and a jar of creamy peanut butter. While most people would reach for the creamy, I would warn that that could easily be the biggest mistake of your day. Why take a spoon to the most boring version of a food when you could instead snatch the jar of crunchy peanut butter and have a little adventure?
Crunchy peanut butter adds a whole new dimension to the world of food. When you think you’re going to get a spoonful of smooth, creamy peanut butter and you discover little bits of peanuts blended in, it gives an element of surprise and really leaves you wanting more.
Many could argue that chewing crunchy peanut butter is more of a chore than chewing regular peanut butter but it is so worthwhile. While maybe you have to put in a little more effort to chew crunchy peanut butter or spread it on your toast, when you take a bite of that toast, you’re reminded by the bits of real peanuts that you’re eating not just peanut butter, but actual peanuts! When you eat normal peanut butter, you’re just eating plain peanut butter. How boring.
In conclusion, crunchy over creamy any day. Add a little bit of substance and dimension to your life and give crunchy peanut butter a try!
