BC AT DERBY

So Far:
Bishop Carroll: After three hard-fought games, the Golden Eagles stand at 2-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of the second-ranked Northwest Grizzlies. BC is currently on a two-game win streak and looking to keep its momentum going this week in Derby.

Derby: The Derby Panthers currently stand at 3-0 and are looking like the best team in the state. They are led by their fast paced and talented offense. Last week, they knocked off Newton by 56 points, with 35 of those points coming in the first quarter. So far this season they have outscored their opponents by 134 points.

Who’s Hot?

Bishop Carroll: Hunter Trail (RB): Trail had 117 rushing yards as well as four total touchdowns on 17 carries vs West last Friday. But he will have a very steep task going up against the exceptional Derby defense.

Derby: Tre Washington (RB): Tre Washington is the focal point of the Panthers offense. He is known for taking short handoffs/passes to the house on any given play, led by exceptional blocking downfield from his offensive line, receivers, and tight ends.

What to watch for:

Bishop Carroll: Coach Trail will be looking to have his team execute the game plan and to not allow the other team to dictate how his team plays. The Golden Eagles will look to keep their offense on the field and in turn, keep the Panthers offense off of it. Look for the Eagles recent run heavy game plan to continue to be on full display.

Derby: Derby will attempt to continue their momentum, going into this week’s game against Bishop Carroll. They will be trying to wear them out early, then attempt to run up the score in the second half.

Prediction:

This should be a great game between two great teams. I expect this to be a very close game throughout, with each team’s defense keeping the other team’s offense in check for most of the game. The defense that can create the most stops throughout the game will most likely be the reason that their team wins. Final Score: BC: 28 Derby: 26

Quote of the Week:

Coach Trail on Derby: “It’s about doing things our way, not letting them dictate the game to us, but us executing our game plan and what we want to do. It’s all about execution. Doing your job, as well as trusting your teammates to do their job and working together in that way, that is what we always work on. It is about executing what you want to do. We also must be ready to make adjustments mid game.”
