November 13, 2019
Golden Eagles dominate the Andover Trojans en route to showdown against the Northwest Grizzlies
Overview:
It was an all-around offensive clinic by the Golden Eagles as they were able to run all over the Trojans on Friday night. The offense was able to dominate Andover through both the air and by pounding the ball through the explosive run game led by junior Running Back Hunter Trail. Trail was able to lead the running game to three touchdowns on the night. Meanwhile, the passing game, led by fellow junior Aiden Niedens, accounted for two TDs. The defense was able to hold the Trojans to only seven points. The Golden Eagles crushed the Andover Trojans by the final score of 35-7.
Golden Eagle Offense:
The Golden Eagles were able to punch the ball into the end zone a combined five times against the Trojans, with three of them coming through the rushing game and the remaining two coming via the passing game. The Golden Eagle offense continues to be on a roll as they progress through the playoffs. The offense will need to continue the streak that it is on, especially against the Northwest Grizzlies this week.
Golden Eagle Defense:
The Golden Eagle defense was able to extend its dominant streak this week, only giving up points late in the first half. They were also able to come up with one turnover late in the first quarter. The defense is continuing to put up successful performances week-in and week-out. They will need to continue to consistently put up these sorts of performances in order to get to where they want to go.
North:
The Trojans had a hard time gaining momentum throughout the contest. The offense had a hard time doing much of anything against the stout defense of the Golden Eagles. The Defense of the Trojans also had a ruff time slowing down the Golden Eagle offense. This was especially evident in their inability to stop Carroll’s top Running Back Hunter Trail. With this loss the Trojans will begin to look ahead to the upcoming season. This includes beginning the recruiting process for the upcoming season.
Going Forward:
The Golden Eagles are going up against the Northwest Grizzlies this week. This should prove to be one of the biggest challenges that the Golden Eagles will face all season. It will be a very close game throughout the course of the night with each team scoring frequently. The defense must do whatever it can to create stops against the top-ranked Grizzlies. This game will be one of the main steps for the team, as they look to continue on their path to the state title. Prediction: BC: 28 > NW: 25
