Breakdown:

The Golden Eagles have had yet another great season under coach Dusty Trail, as they are now onto the Final Four in his fourth year as head coach of the program.

The Golden Eagles have had nothing but impressive performances as of late, with the team winning by large margins over the course of the team’s last five matchups. When asked about how the team is able to put together these dominant performances, senior offensive lineman Luke Richmeier said, “We’re continuing to do the little things right. Doing the little things allow for the bigger things to happen in return.”

It was a relatively close and competitive matchup, with both teams tied up at 28 points a piece throughout the majority of the second half after a high scoring first half. But after a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, the Golden Eagles were able to go up by fourteen points in the fourth quarter, effectively icing the game for the Golden Eagles.  

Adrian’s Thoughts:

Over the course of the past month, it seems evident that the Golden Eagles have been peaking heading into the playoffs. This is without a doubt due to the team’s competitive and difficult regular season schedule.

Richmeier said, “This season has been full of different obstacles with Corona and the City League originally cancelling their season, leaving us without a league. That allowed us to go and find teams that we normally wouldn’t go up against. Which has no doubt helped us prepare even better for the playoffs.”

Going Forward:

Following this big time win, the Golden Eagles are on their way to the Final Four, where they will be matching up against a rather familiar opponent in the Northwest Grizzlies. Expect yet another highly contested matchup to come out of this rivalry game. It’s only fitting that in order for the Golden Eagles to reach their ultimate goal, they will have to go up against this aforementioned familiar foe.
