“Avengers: Endgame” or “Guardians of the Galaxy?” Flyer staffers Rica Bluml and Evan Long debate it.
Rica: Hey! What’s your favorite Marvel movie?
Evan: Definitely Avengers: Endgame. There are so many cool moments! What about you?
Rica: My favorite is probably Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s got some really funny jokes in it!
Evan: Yeah, that movie is hilarious! But Endgame has so many characters and it wraps up their stories so well.
Rica: That’s true, I really liked how Captain America and Iron Man’s stories ended up, but Guardians of the Galaxy was innovative with the way it combined action with comedy.
Evan: That’s a good point. I didn’t love the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy though. Endgame had the best villain by far in Thanos.
Rica: Thanos was a really great villain. But the Guardians of the Galaxy villain, Ronan, was Thanos’s henchman and helped in his quest to find all the Infinity Stones.
Evan: Yeah, Ronan was pretty important. I still think the moments in Endgame make it shine through. When Cap lifted the Hammer, and the army came through the portals, the theater erupted with applause. I think it was the best theater experience for sure.
Rica: I’d have to agree with that point because seeing that moment in the movie theater was so iconic! The thing that I really enjoyed about Guardians of the Galaxy was how they made a team of misfits and they all banded together despite their differences to defeat Ronan.
Evan: That is so true! They developed the characters really well. Another thing that I love about Endgame is how many call backs they make to previous films. For example, when Falcon flew through the portal, he said “On your left” to Cap. This was the exact same thing Cap said when he ran past Falcon in The Winter Soldier.
Rica: I remember when they did that, and I immediately got the reference! Guardians of the Galaxy had good character development in it, which is another one of my favorite things about it. You can really tell that by the end of the movie they had all become a family. That was also another theme that kept coming up in the later Guardians movies too.
Evan: Yeah, both movies did a great job at developing not only the individual characters, but the team as a whole. I think we can both agree that both movies are really good!
Rica: I can agree that both movies are in my top ten Marvel Movies!
