As a winter storm moved through Wichita early Friday morning, many Bishop Carroll students decided to stay home and avoid the snowy weather. The attendance office said approximately 250 students — about 22 percent of the school’s 1,142 total enrollment — were absent on Friday. On an average day, about 30 students are gone.
Wichita Public Schools held classes today. Other area schools, such as Maize and Goddard, had a snow day.
As of 10:15 a.m., the Wichita area had 3 inches of snow, with 4 to 6 total inches expected.
Bishop Carroll Principal Vanessa Harshberger said that the school generally builds 3-4 snow days into the schedule.
