Bishop Carroll hopes to have a new football coach hired before Christmas, said Mr. Fraizer, athletic director.
A search committee, which will include Mr. Fraizer, will choose the new coach to replace Dusty Trail, who recently retired from the position. Mr. Fraizer said the school has received applications for the job.
“Being the head coach at BC is less about football and more about how we can use football to form disciples of Christ,” Mr. Fraizer said.
The former head coach, Mr. Trail, along with former defensive coordinator Mr. Nance, both retired after illustrious careers. Under former head coach Mr. Schuckman, BC won two 5A state championships, and in Mr. Trail’s first season as head coach in 2017, BC was a state champion once again. In eight years as head coach, Mr. Trail had a 55-29 record.
Mr. Trail and Mr. Nance had a gigantic impact on BC football.
“What those two specifically did to the program was instrumental to the success of our program the past 30+ years,” Mr. Fraizer said. “They are not defined by their wins and losses, but the impact they had on many young men that continued into their endeavors after BC.”
